Maruti 800 a production of maruti udyog limited the brain child of Sanjay Gandhi, manufactured in India from 1983 to 2014. The Maruti 800 had a smooth 796cc motor with a monocoque body and space for four adult. The little Maruti was the first made-in-India vehicle to get disk brakes, front-wheel drive, floor change gears, bucket seats and a plastic shaped dashboard. It was a triumphant equation that turned into a hit with the Indian vehicle purchaser.
This is a 2000 model Euro-1 bought from Scrap Shop paid Rs.12000 . It has no font bumper , tyre, and many other parts. The car completely taken down leaving just the body.
The roof after B-pillar were chopped off, the rear door was sealed off and the rear were redesigned making a look of Pickup truck.
A metal bar were attached to the B-pillar to give the body a support and some rigidity. The suspension has been redone and it now sits a lot more higher than a standard Maruti 800. Made a custom metal Front bumper giving a look of SUV and the rear normal plastic bumper were replace and fitted Gypsy metal bumper. Standard Normal headlight were replaced with round units. The hood gets a custom made scoop to give it an SUV look.
The front grille is the same that was already there on the car. A pair of auxiliary lamps was installed on the griller. On the side profile, the steel rims on the car were replaced with aftermarket alloy wheels and modified the wheel arches to give it a SUV-like look.
The rear portion which has now been converted into a loading bay gets stainless steel metal sheets installed on the sides. The rear gets a spare wheel like Maruti Gypsy and the tail lights are from a Gypsy too. The driver cabin and the loading bay have a partition in between and the bay itself has been covered with canvas. On the inside, the seats are customised and it now comes with bucket seats with custom seat covers. The dashboard remains the same as stock.
Coming to the engine side, its fully restored and some changes were made like the STD. Cylinder were changed into 0.25 size, custom made airbox fitted with aftermarket airfilter, custom made straight exhaust system giving a roaring sound.
After 3 years of journey modification project is completed though it's not in perfect build. delayed due to others work and financial issues. Restoration cost came around 1.10lakh
